mature man in a lightweight jacketIn 1936, a group of Italian-American friends founded the Italian-American Delegates (IAD) in Detroit. Their goal was to raise money for those in need. To this day, the IAD Golf Day generates the majority of its charitable funds from the golfers, the advertisers in the ad book, various sponsorship packages, and generous donations of food and items to support this event. The success of the golf day inspired them to expand by adding a second annual event – A Gourmet Wild Game Dinner.  Both of these events support their commitment to continue the tradition of giving that started in 1936.

This year’s Golf Day was held at Twin Lakes Golf Club on July 10th. The Italian community has generously supported St. Louis Center through this event.

Dominic Samuel Bommarito was an active member of the IAD, helping the organization raise funds for charities throughout the Detroit area. His biggest contribution as a fundraiser was as co-chair of the Golf Day event. He also helped to organize the St. Louis Center Car Show that was held on the Center’s campus. The car show was just one way that he supported the Center.

Dominic was in attendance at this year’s IAD outing. Friends and family were stunned when he passed away on August 16, 2023, at the age of 77. He will be greatly missed by his friends at the IAD and St. Louis Center.
