A young woman cutting a cakeThrough the generosity of Will Johnson, a St. Louis Center benefactor, current staff members, and their family members are eligible to apply for a scholarship to help fund their higher education. Several staff members applied for the scholarship, but one young woman stood above the rest with her impressive application.

Isabell Frey is a 2021 graduate of Grass Lake High School. She began working at St. Louis Center in the kitchen in the fall of 2021. She now works as the Housekeeping Coordinator and spends time as a direct care worker. After taking a computer science class in high school she became interested in cybersecurity. It interested her because, to her, it is like solving a giant puzzle.

Isabell embarked on an intensive boot camp at Michigan State University to further her studies in cybersecurity. Her grandparents, aunt, and boyfriend joined her at the Center on Wednesday, September 20th to receive her award and meet Will, the scholarship funder. It was a very proud moment for not only Isabell and her family, but the Center’s administration as well.
