2024 Memorial Golf Outing

The scramble format and inviting course layout at Pierce Lake Golf Course in Chelsea, MI make this an event to enjoy. St. Louis Center is blessed to have so many supporters. In honor of those who have passed, since 1987, the Memorial Golf Outing has allowed us to remember these individuals and their generosity.

George Merkel
This year we honor George Merkel for his proud support of St. Louis Center. He helped provide produce for the residents back in the days of St. Louis School. George was, amongst other things, a farmer. He grew potatoes, onions, green beans, summer squash, and apples. He sold his produce at the Ann Arbor Farmer’s Market, but he always had plenty to help feed the residents. George was happy to provide the St. Louis Center with poinsettias for Christmas each year.
George was tireless in giving his time to the local community. He was an active member of the Chelsea Knights of Columbus, Cardinal O’Hara 4th Degree Assembly, Ann Arbor Market Growers Association, Sylvan Twp. Board Trustee, Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners, and served as a Tractor Pull judge at the Chelsea Community Fair.
George was extremely proud of his family for their continued support of St. Louis Center.

This event is an easy golf scramble that players young and older can enjoy. Golfers take a break between holes and head to the course pavilion where hotdogs are served. After the scores are finalized, dinner is served, a raffle takes place, and awards are presented.
