St. Louis Center’s newly renovated kitchen was unveiled and blessed on September 26th!

Through the efforts of US Congressman Timothy Walberg, St. Louis Center received a large grant to help cover the cost of updating the main kitchen. After many months of filing paperwork and making plans, the project began in late April. The renovations were completed in August and inspections were conducted.

The Kitchen Rededication on September 26th was a crowd-pleaser! Supporters of St. Louis Center joined residents, staff, and special guests in the celebration and ceremonial reopening of the newly renovated commercial kitchen, where over 1,200 meals are prepared weekly. Attendees were treated to a small gift, a charcuterie spread, and light refreshments.

Some highlights included a speech given by Dustin Krasny who also accepted a gift on behalf of Congressman Walberg. Bishop Earl Boyea of the Diocese of Lansing spoke a few words. Residents Jerome and Matthew, with the assistance of former Kitchen Coordinator Isabel Roscinski, cut a ribbon to officially open the kitchen. Bishop Boyea then blessed the entire area. Next, the visitors had a chance to tour the new kitchen.

St. Louis Center is extremely grateful for our supporters and the individuals who made this project possible. Originally constructed in 1960, the kitchen is one of the most critical aspects of our residents’ and staff’s daily lives. As our residents age, the number of specialized meals being prepared continues to increase. St. Louis Center wants to express our immense gratitude to all who made this $1,000,000+ project possible.
