The Memorial Golf Outing, in honor of those who have passed, since 1987, has allowed us to remember individuals and their generosity to the Center. St. Louis Center is blessed to have so many supporters throughout the years.
Pierce Lake Golf Course in Chelsea welcomed teams ready to take the course on the morning of July 15, 2023. This year St. Louis Center honored Liz Hollo.
2023 Memorial Honoree: Liz Hollo
Liz had lived in the Chelsea area since 1978, moving from Midland. She was deeply involved in the Chelsea community for many years, where she lovingly raised her family. She worked as a nurse for Chelsea Community Hospital in the head/pain unit for over 25 years and was a faithful member of St. Mary Catholic Church, where she sang in the choir and loved participating in the Lenten Fish Fry events.
In addition, she was very involved in campaigning for the installation of Knights of Columbus State Council officers. Liz was one of those individuals who always did for others. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, and spending time with her family and friends, especially her children and grandchildren.
Liz passed away December 29, 2021, leaving behind a legacy of love to her family and community.
Let’s Play Golf
Teams lined up to a shotgun start after Fr. Enzo said prayer. He asked that everyone prayed for Faith. Faith can move mountains, and with storm clouds and thunderstorms looming, a mountain would need moved. Thankfully, it worked, and the rainstorms held off for most of the morning.
Golfers took to theirs holes for the 9:00 am shotgun start. Players enjoyed a hot dog lunch at the turn that was expertly made by volunteers. It was then a fight with mother nature to stay dry for just a few minutes and she gave up. The day ended with sunshine.
The winners for the day were Team Klink, who are not new at winning this tournament as they are the reigning champs from last year. Dinner of Italian sausage and hamburgers were served. Residents from the Center were able to join the celebration at the end of the day.
