2025 Graduates: Bradley Herblet and Steven Wysocki

Bradley Herblet

Bradley Herblet is no stranger to change. When he joined the St. Louis Center community in March of 2024, he transitioned into a new home and a new school through the Chelsea High School Young Adult Program. Just recently, Bradley celebrated his graduation in May 2025. Despite the recent changes in his life, Bradley has no trouble exemplifying what it means to embrace St. Louis Center’s mission. His independence and resilience, which inspire everyone at the Center, staff and residents alike, guide him toward a fuller, more meaningful life.

Bradly is a unique and incredible individual. Everyone who knows him can recognize his bright smile from a mile away. Ever since he was a child, Bradley has always been imaginative and creative. He enjoys building things with Legos and finds comfort and expression through music. He loves music so much that he taught himself how to play the keyboard, giving him access to a creative outlet whenever inspiration strikes. “I like playing the keyboard a lot,” Bradley said. “I learned it a long time ago.”

Not only is Bradley creative and musical, but he also excelled in school and stood out for his enthusiasm and heart. His teachers quickly recognized his potential, and they knew Bradley would benefit from more extracurriculars like volunteering. So, his teacher, Jason King, took him to the Chelsea City Offices to start volunteering. Bradley thrived in this position, so much so that Jason worked with the city offices and Bradley to create a semi-permanent Tuesday position that began following Bradley’s graduation; one that allows him to work independently and take pride in consistent, meaningful tasks.

“Bradley is working on a special project for us,” said Lyn Sebestyen, City Clerk. “He scans and files documents. Bradley is reliable, thorough, and doesn’t need much direction. He is very pleasant to work with.”

Each Tuesday morning, Bradley takes the WAVE bus to work, a reflection of both his independence and his commitment. He hopes there will be even more opportunities to support the Chelsea City Offices after he completes his current project. For now, he is excelling right where he is, contributing his strengths to the community, and living out what St. Louis Center strives to inspire in every resident: dignity and purpose.

All of these moments and accomplishments made Bradley’s graduation in May even more meaningful. This milestone captured Bradley’s courage through navigating change. Surrounded by his peers and loved ones, Bradley was able to cross that stage, ready for his next chapter.

Steven Wysocki

Another one of the all-star residents graduated this year as well! Since we have known Steven Wysocki, he has been an active learner and joyful participant in all that he does. An attitude that he clearly brings to every challenge he faces in life.

On May 28, Steven Wysocki graduated with a Certificate of Completion from the Washtenaw Intermediate School District. Steven was also one of two students to receive the Martin Gersh Award from the Federation of Washtenaw Intermediate School Employees. Candidates are chosen because they have shown a positive self-attitude, served as a role model, been involved in activities, overcome challenges, and are persistent.

The staff at HighPoint nominated Steven with the following: “In the last eight years of knowing Steven, I have seen him consistently showing a positive attitude about himself and working through several health, behavioral,  and emotional challenges. Steven has grown and matured so much in the last 8 years! He is proud of his growth and commitment to gauging and managing his own behavior.  Steven has made progress on aspects of Independence, such as vocational skills and daily living skills. Steven serves as a role model for other students by always being willing to help.  He is encouraging, helpful, persistent, and confident. Steven participated in the Special Olympics summer game last year and brought home a gold medal in bocce ball. Steven has aggressively needed to adapt to his growing mobility needs, and he has shown that he can adapt and overcome his anxiety and his disability challenges. Steven works very hard every single day to work through anxious moments. He also works very hard to complete his school work and vocational expectations to the best of his abilities.”

Here at St. Louis Center, we are so excited to celebrate this major accomplishment with Steven and Bradley. It has been an absolute joy to watch both of them grow and learn through their time here at the Center. While the Center is primarily a residential community built to meet the needs of individuals with I/DD, a pivotal part of our mission is ensuring that each individual lives the fullest life possible. Education is a large part of any person’s journey through life, and we are so proud of these two young men for pursuing excellence in their schooling.
