The Game

Many St. Louis Center residents play basketball on the Special Olympics team, and many more enjoy just playing in the gym. Caitlin Blomquist, Fitness Specialist, is always looking for fun ways to get all residents active. With a wide variety of ages and abilities, it is a challenge to find activities that interest everyone. She worked with the Chelsea High School Girls Varsity Basketball team to make a fun fitness session on Friday, January 10, 2025.

The Plan

Under the leadership of Todd Blomquist, Head Coach, the Chelsea team has racked up a pretty impressive record this year: 16-3. He decided this winning team could bring some fun and games to the Center’s residents, so they planned their practice that day in the St. Louis Center gym.

The Fun

When the team arrived, they went straight to the gym. The Lady Bulldogs greeted the eager residents and, led by Caitlin, they began some warm-ups. Todd helped organize the teams so that each side had a good mix of Lady Bulldogs and Center residents.

There was a lot of laughter and fun, even some good basketball. The event was truly a time of mutual admiration.
