An evening of fun to benefit our residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities
Supportive spirits
St. Louis Center was truly blessed to host its 37th Annual Fall Dinner Auction; an unforgettable evening filled with warmth, community, and generosity. Held at St. Mary Church in Chelsea, Michigan, the event drew a crowd of over 200 guests. The auction featured over 100 incredible items, available in the online, silent, and live auction lots, all generously donated by local businesses and compassionate supporters. Among the most popular items were a Costa Rica Getaway, a diamond necklace, and the star items. There were several other luxury vacation homes and jewelry pieces available in both the silent and live auctions. The “Wheelbarrow of Cheer,” donated by the Family Association, was another standout highlight of the night.
Genuine generosity
Guests enjoyed a delicious dinner from Movable Feast, served just before the live program began with Peg Bravo as our dynamic MC and David Helmer as our energetic auctioneer. During the program, St. Louis Center proudly honored Ken and Ellie Unterbrink for their steadfast dedication and unwavering support of our residents and mission. John Cleary, a Member of the Board of Directors for the Sean Brian Ashline Foundation, was also in attendance to present the proceeds from the 2024 Sean Brian Ashline Memorial Golf Outing. Additionally, Cathy Balinski graciously presented the proceeds from the Alaskan Cruise Raffle. We are deeply grateful for these generous contributions, which further our mission and impact.
Progressive potential
This year, we introduced a new online auction feature to streamline the bidding process. While there were a few initial challenges, the overall response was positive. The online platform allowed those unable to attend in person the opportunity to participate, and many guests who opted for card payments appreciated the expedited checkout. Looking ahead, the auction committee and St. Louis Center staff are excited to refine and enhance the online experience for next year’s event.
A sparkling success
Thanks to the incredible generosity of our supporters, this year’s auction was a record-breaking success, raising nearly 30% more than last year! We are profoundly grateful to everyone who helped make this achievement possible—our devoted committee members, volunteers, and staff worked tirelessly to create an inspiring and enjoyable evening; a special thanks to the Auction Committee’s co-chairs, Barb Lewis and Eileen Augustine. Above all, we are deeply moved by the generosity and solidarity of our supporters, whose commitment to our cause is truly inspiring. Witnessing so many people come together in celebration of St. Louis Center’s mission is a reminder of the power of community and the lasting impact of collective generosity.
Thank you for making this event such a remarkable success. Your continued support allows us to further our mission and create a brighter future for those we serve.
