Since becoming CEO of St. Louis Center one year ago, my appreciation of the importance of teamwork has grown. Teamwork - working with others to accomplish a common goal - does not just take place on a sports field. I have played soccer my entire life, and this has shaped my leadership abilities, including communication, strategy, and team-building. A talented striker might score a goal, but they cannot accomplish anything sustainable without their teammates.

OI have been blessed by strong team members throughout my life. As I go about my daily work as CEO, I am continually reminded that we are meant to do this important work together. No single person, no matter how charismatic, energetic, or intelligent, can do it all by themselves. During this time of generosity and thanksgiving, I look towards my staff and am encouraged by their consistent support and how they serve the residents with joyful hearts.

You Can Be Part of the Team

Because of your inspiring, reliable support, we are able to do life-changing work. I am excited to announce that we have several programs starting in 2025. One is the return of Curiousor Clay, which allows the residents to work creatively, developing fine motor skills and sculpting beautiful ceramic art. On the horizon is a new daytime Memory Care program for adults with I/DD who are aging and showing signs of memory loss. This highly specialized program will help them live their fullest, most independent lives.

Help cover the cost of benevolent care for residents like Lee.

Many of the residents at the center, rely on your help to provide the Benevolent Care that is needed to help him maintain his community-oriented life.

We use the term Benevolent Care often here at St. Louis Center, but what does that mean? The Center receives funding from residents (through social security), their families and/or state and federal sources. However, the cost of care exceeds those reimbursements by $3,000 to $5,000 a month per resident, depending on their level of need. St. Louis Center must raise Benevolent Care funds to cover that gap. Those funds provide for direct care workers who provide for residents’ daily needs, shelter, clothing, food, and things like toiletries and supplies.

Benevolent Care donations are tax deductible and help St. Louis Center provide a dynamic and engaged life for its 55 residents each day. You can learn more about Benevolent Care at St. Louis Center here.
