Direct Care Worker Brad Crosier (above left) led the initiative to decorate a tree as part of Adrian’s 11th Annual Comstock Christmas Riverwalk. This year the park boasted a display of over 500 Christmas trees decorated by families, individuals, and local businesses. Many trees are dedicated to the memory of deceased loved ones. 2024 marks St. Louis Center’s first year participating in this beloved community event.
Brad worked with Haylie Moran, Day Program Coordinator, Karinna Hershberger, Grant Writer & Development Specialist, and other staff members to devise a plan. Each resident and department on campus decorated an ornament for the tree. Tom Arbnas, HR Director, built the St. Louis Center star for the top. The Development Office provided ‘takeaways’ for parkgoers that included a jar opener and information sheet so they could learn more about the Center.
During the week following Thanksgiving, Brad took a group to decorate the tree. They enjoyed placing the ornaments on the branches and were especially proud of the star. Joe, Brian, Mike, and Direct Care worker Janet Smith (front, right in the photo above) helped Brad decorate the tree.
The community turned out in a big way on Friday, December 6th in a big way for the tree-lighting celebration which included a holiday light parade. Several residents experienced the joy firsthand. Plans are already in the works for next year.
