A Day of Remembrance

This September 11th at St. Louis Center, the residents paid tribute to ten individuals who set aside their own safety to help others. Residents in the Skill-Building Program at St. Louis Center went to the gym for the multimedia presentation. Several took turns reading about a hero’s life while photos were shown on the screen.

Jerome shares a compelling story of heroism

Thanks to the guidance of Haylie and Brad, the residents at St. Louis Center put on a beautiful and meaningful 9/11 service for staff and the community. A group of residents were selected to read poetry and dedications to an array of heroes who stood up and made incredible sacrifices on that historic and frightening day.

A Look Back…

Fr. Satheesh opened with a prayer and a moment of silence for all those lost in the tragedy. The residents followed with a PowerPoint presentation made by Haylie depicting several heroes and their stories. Each of the residents sitting up front took turns reading what was written on the slides calmly and confidently. It was a great opportunity to remember and reflect on the selfless actions of others. As we mourn those who were lost, may we also be inspired by their incredibly brave deeds.

This was a beautiful and reverent service that was impactful for the residents and others in attendance. On a day that is remembered as one of the worst days in American history, it is always important to take time to remember, reflect, and mourn the lives lost.
