Fr. David Stawasz escorted Bob and Tony down the red carpet as honored guests at the Night to Shine event at 2|42 Community Church in Ann Arbor.

This year, nineteen residents enthusiastically prepared for an unforgettable evening on Friday, February 7th, at 2|42 Community Church in Ann Arbor. It was their “Night to Shine.”

Rose Lawrence brought her daughter to the Center to help style the ladies’ hair. Staff members were also on hand to help paint their nails, apply make-up, and help with their outfits. The St. Louis Center kitchen provided healthy snacks for the ladies to enjoy while they were getting ready. Christine Okler, mother of a resident,  prepared suits for the men so they could look just as nice as the ladies.

Meanwhile, an army of volunteers in Ann Arbor were preparing for the arrival of hundreds of “Kings and Queens” to the 10th Annual Night to Shine event. The St. Louis Center residents joined 80,000 people with disabilities around the globe to discover the love God has for each one of them. The Tim Tebow Foundation is committed to making sure that each MVP (most vulnerable person) knows, understands, and experiences their inherent dignity.

It wasn’t long before dinner was served and the real fun began. A DJ played high-energy tunes to keep the “Royalty” dancing all evening long. Tim Tebow delivered a message via video, making each person happy.

Upon arrival, each guest received a corsage or boutonniere. Subsequently, each king and queen was crowned, awaiting his or her turn to walk the red carpet into the event space. As they awaited the opening prayer and dinner service, party-goers connected with old friends, took photos, and checked out the gifts in their swag bags.

The volunteers ensured the honored guests had a great time from start to finish. Residents danced until the last possible minute before heading home.
